DESIGN STUDIO MANAGER

Island Point Interiors, a well-established Port Douglas based interior design studio, is experiencing exceptional growth, and seeks a Design Studio Manager. This position requires leadership and efficient management of the design team in all aspects of project fulfilment.


POSITION SUMMARY

  • you will liaise between owners, contractors, subcontractors, the design principal, and any other relevant parties
  • you are required to carefully plan design projects, using industry best practice 
  • you will need to demonstrate excellent project management skills, as well as a strong creative flair in interior design and decoration 
  • you will be managing multiple design projects simultaneously, and be able to handle pressure, stay organised and multi-task effectively  
  • candidates should have a strong sense of self-accountability, meticulous attention to detail, excellent judgement, positive energy and infectious enthusiasm

POSITION RESPONSIBILITIES

  • lead meetings as required, manage project performance, and provide feedback to Design Principal
  • plan and effectively monitor project benchmarks, deadlines and relay to Design Principal
  • participate in strategic meetings
  • manage project budgets and provide weekly financial reporting
  • ensure quality assurance throughout project lifecycle
  • prepare design proposals as required

REQUIRED KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES

  • demonstrated ability to apply proactive, innovative and consultative approach in interaction with all clients, designers and developers
  • demonstrate good judgement and excellent communication skills in a fast-paced environment
  • displays excellent grooming, presentation skills and communication skills
  • identify opportunities for new processes, workflows and business solutions
  • demonstrated history of building and maintaining strong client relationships
  • demonstrated past experience in handling multiple clients with varying project deadlines
  • use time-management skills to achieve goals while working under tight deadlines
  • ability to work independently and in a team environment
  • advanced computer skills including Microsoft Office Suite, Adobe Creative Suite and MYOB Accounting software

This is a full-time position based in Port Douglas.  The Design Principal is open to the opportunity to invite the successful applicant to take equity in the business on favourable terms.
